Last week Chairman and CEO of PVH Corp., one of our Strategic Partners, Emanuel Chirico was appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the United Nations Global Compact Board. The UN Global Compact’s mission is to mobilise a global movement of companies and stakeholders as a force for good to create a better world.
“I’m honored to be appointed to the Board of the UN Global Compact, a group whose mission aligns with my philosophy that business leaders have an obligation to take a stand on the pressing issues we face as a global society,” said Chirico.
Comprising 24 representatives of business, civil society and other stakeholders from around the globe, the UN Global Compact Board plays an important role in shaping the strategy and policy of the initiative, which acts as the United Nations flagship for responsible business action. With more than 9,500 companies and 3,000 non-business signatories based in over 160 countries, The UN Global Compact is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world.
“We are delighted to welcome Emanuel Chirico as a new Member of our Board,” said Lise Kingo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact. “With his wealth of experience in driving sustainability in the private sector, Mr. Chirico will be a valuable asset as we work to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create the world we want. I look forward to working with Mr. Chirico over the coming years.”
Building on PVH Corp.’s long-standing commitment to Corporate Responsibility, Chirico introduced its new Forward Fashion Corporate Responsibility strategy at Copenhagen Fashion Summit earlier this year.
