Shaway Yeh, Founder of Yehyehyehadvisor to Copenhagen Fashion Summit and pioneer in China’s sustainable fashion industry, joined together with Shanghai Fashion Week to hold an open forum about sustainability in fashion. The conference brought together international experts and institutional leaders in the field of sustainable development, including Global Fashion Agenda COO, Caroline Chalmer.

With the rapid development of the fashion industry in China sustainable development has become a topic of great concern in the local fashion industry. Since 2016, Shanghai Fashion Week has been actively planning and launching related projects during each season in order to encourage more leaders in the industry to turn their attention to sustainability in the fashion field.

As the first speaker at the forum Caroline had the opportunity to set the framework for the rest of the forum, introducing the topic of sustainability, how we are doing as an industry and what the most important topics to move forward on are based on the CEO Agenda and Pulse Report. We’re are incredibly proud to have been a part of this key event on the Shanghai Fashion Week programme which included speakers from Nike, Ellen MacArthur Foundation, JMBY and Erdos.

In addition to the forum Caroline also represented Global Fashion Agenda at a Sustainability Panel debate for Shanghai Fashion Week giving a perspective on what role China can play in sustainability in fashion from a global industry perspective. Other participants included our strategic partner Kering and Woolmark with the panel being moderated by Shaway Yeh,

More information about the event is available on the Shanghai Fashion Week website.
