Fashion Pact launches ahead of G7

By Celia Hackling

Today, a new Fashion Pact will be presented on the eve of the G7 summit, which our CEO and President, Eva Kruse is proud to support by attending the launch event in Paris at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The Fashion Pact is a coalition that brings together the most significant players of the fashion industry, worldwide and at large. These players all commit to a common core of quantified targets within the outlined areas of climate, biodiversity and oceans to reduce the environmental impact of the industry. Thus far 32 leading global fashion and textile companies have signed the Fashion Pact.

We are proud to announce that many of Global Fashion Agenda’s Strategic Partners are signatories and will be present at Elysée Palace for the historic meeting today. The initiative is spearheaded by François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kering, who was tasked with orchestrating the pact by French President Emmanuel Macron last April.

François-Henri Pinault spoke publicly on the Fashion Pact for the first time during Copenhagen Fashion Summit earlier this year. Pinault highlighted that the industry must “work collectively”.

Given the scale and importance of the coalition Global Fashion Agenda is excited to be working closely with Kering as a Strategic Partner. The Fashion Pact is open for signatories and we encourage fashion players to join to take action on the industry’s environmental impact on our planet.
