Global Fashion Agenda is pleased to welcome another special adviser to its advisory team, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe, Founder and Executive Chair of African Fashion International.
Dr Moloi-Motsepe is a leading businesswoman, entrepreneur and philanthropist in South Africa and was named one of the country’s Most Influential Women in 2012. Tapping into her network will allow Global Fashion Agenda to increase its focus on Africa, more specifically getting greater African representation at Copenhagen Fashion Summit.
“People, Planet and then Profits. This is how the new thinking in business ought to be. We should care a lot about the planet we leave behind for our children and the generations to follow. This is the most important agenda,” says Dr Moloi-Motsepe.
Having started her career in medicine, Dr Moloi-Motsepe founded the Motsepe Foundation in 1999 together with her husband, Dr Patrice Motsepe. In addition to development work in South Africa and African Continent, the foundation has international partnerships with various philanthropic organisations.
For more than a decade Dr Moloi-Motsepe has also worked in fashion. In 2007 she established African Fashion International with a mission to aggregate the fragmented fashion industry on the African Continent, to make it commercially viable and sustainable.
